I got this laptop for classes. The Chrombook 14 is not meant for school/office work. It runs off an android system so no window programs and the window program that are available have inapp cost. If you re looking for an entertainment laptop thsn this is it, minus the bad screen. It runs like a tablet but looks like a laptop

Update 9/24/2020 – died today – system freezes after one minute and goes to black screen. HP product support unable to help, I tried their online chat and they are unable to help. I put in my serial# and product code to no avail. super depressed – this plus covid plus wildfires – HP you really let me down.Arrived today (1/8/2020) I ordered it after much research and perusal of reviews. It arrived and the first thought out of the box “huh, PLASTIC” says it has a plastic frame so it feels cheap. Opened it up and it is dead, needed to be charged so I waited 4 hours while it charged. Fully charged it searched for updates and downloaded for over 10 minutes. Next was quick and easy, loaded my google/chrome profile from my gmail sign in, and then it went black – no warning and stayed black while I tried everything to figure out why it was not turning on. Finally came back on. Then I noticed as it started to get super hot that THERE ARE NO VENTS. Well that explains the heat. On the plus side the keyboard is super. Still I am wondering if this was a bad purchase and knowing I have a short window to return it I am holding onto the boxes and packaging it came in.Update Day 3: no more overheating, I am chalking it up to setup overload. This a a huge improvement of my awesome first chromebook 5 years ago. This one debuted June 2019 and currently Google has the OS set to expire summer of 2026 which for $210 is a great deal. I have 6-7 tabs running at anyone time without a slow down. A True HD picture. Super fast page load and a nice size screen. PLUS no worry about viruses – Priceless. LIG.Day 8: Still going good. I will note the the battery life is 5 hours with the light on full bright. No more over heating.

great laptop easy to use this is my second Chromebook I’m happy to say this one is better than my old one the keys are very responsive and very nice when clicking very good screen quality not too heavy great speakers nice-looking design only gripe is that it only has a micro-sd card slot, not a full one so I had to buy an adapter otherwise this laptop is great I would totally recommend it worth the price came quick.

for $250 you cant expect omni-angle perfect screen— and it isnt— but it is adequate. For an internet surfing appliance, it seems reasonably sturdy. The wife has a $1000 umpteen-inch Dell laptop w/ HD and funkadelic screen— no way it is 4x the value of these handy little throw-away devices.

It’s not touch screen but I don’t mind that. Battery charged to 100% and only took less than two hours for me and I love that because I would be doing my work and before I know it it’s fully charged. And yes it’s very light weight I’m pretty sure because of its frame but what scares me is that it might be a little to fragile and break if something were to happen but other than that I think it’s great. Very happy with mine!!!update: still in love with charging 11/10-ive discovered few cool things like 3 fingers on touch pad and sliding it across can switch you between chrome tabs (so useful for me I wish every computer had this!)space is still going I’m not even sure how much space I have because haven’t tried looking, all i know is that it’s still going strong after all the work I do-i loveeeeeee that it has a screen recording and screen shot feature and you can record the audio(will capture surrounding sounds too sadly but better than nothing) too so you don’t have to pay for anything extra and is perfect for when you need to record zoom meetings!!!!!!-the computer doesn’t make any noise at all and is completely silent I love ittttt and it gets warm but not hot enough to burn you-you can connect with your phone and can unlock it if your phone is unlocked and I thought that was cool-i love that the keyboard is backlit so you can type in the dark and you can adjust the backlight too-there is a feature to make the Google chrom tabs full screen by pushing a button and I think thats awesome and some other computers don’t have it sadly but thought it was good on this computer- I love how the computer has a blue light filter build in and you can adjust how intense you want it and it gets really intense and that to me is super good for when I do work at nightSTUFF I WISH IT HAD- HDMI port built in would be goodddd make it 20x better especially if you want to screen mirror on the tv. I currently use an adapter but I feel would be awesome to have built in- wish I could record intenal sound as in just what is recording on screen And not any outside noises- I wished the screen was a bit higher quality but honestly wasn’t that big of deal for me but I just like watching shows in there and feel like screen could use some improvement-it started slowing down sadly but was an awesome first laptop in my eyes

It would be an absolutely fantastic computer if it would stay connected to the Internet.

Me parece de uso básico, ya sea tareas, programas básicos, etc ya que el tamaño es sumamente pequeño, no se le puede instalar Microsoft Office por lo que se me hace sumamente malo

Im a big fan of chromebooks and have owned several. This one crashed frequently and randomly. It crashed most frequently when video being played but would crash after restart with only a few chrome tabs open. I did not do a deep attempt to diagnose but I did power wash and kept an eye on stats and it I had to guess it has memory problems or problems where chromeos is not working well on this particular hardware – AMD Athlon Silver 3050C Mobile Processor. On plus side the keyboard was great. Build plasticy and not high end feeling but solid. At first I did not like the screen as its a bit dull and matte but that turned out to be a good thing as I could use in a wider light setting without glare.

I really needed an economic device to work from home when needed. So the device would need to accommodate apps like word, excel, adobe, outlook, zoom, and the like. Note, although you can download most of these apps, the device itself severely limits what you can perform in those apps. For example, in word, you cannot manipulate images or paste from a clipboard; in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, you cannot convert documents into different formats (e.g. JPEG to PDF, Word doc to PDF, or the like) even though this is one of the primary benefits of purchasing this software; and in outlook you cannot add certain email options like request read receipt, request delivery receipt, add on you signature block, add reminder to follow up on the email, or the like. Again, primary benefits of using a certain app. Note, Zoom meeting is not compatible with this device at all. So you cannot download the app. Adobe Manager is not compatible with this device at all although you can download Adobe Acrobat. The work around to some of the big limitations noted above is to use the apps through your browser (Google Chome). Unfortunately, this isn’t a cure all. When you log into certain programs this way and try to perform certain actions within it, it will prompt you to log into the app built for this program, and of course, the app on this device is limited.I also noticed that the computer runs pretty slow considering it was straight out the box. This wasn’t a big deal to me at first, and I kind of expected it considering the price. Honestly, I was fine with the trade off as long as it could perform general office functions, a task that it seems to struggle with. The device does not do a right click to spell check items. You cannot right click to copy and paste items. The mouse pad does not contain a scroll feature. There is just a litany of functional issues you have to figure out how to overcome if you want to make this device work. All in all, I would recommend this device for someone that does occasion internet research or emailing. I don’t believe it is even worth investing in purchasing apps on. And really with smart phones being such a common and basically an essential possession now, I don’t even see how this device would fill even that occasional need.I’m going to finish off the week with the device and see how it goes. Maybe I’ll amend my review if I can figure out how to overcome the device’s limitations. I’ll let you guys know.

Been using this chromebook for Microsoft Teams meetings alot recently, If i try to access my emails while using the camera the computer is slow like hell and microsoft teams may experiment some bugs. 4GB of DDR4 is not enough now days, but most of the chromebooks on the markets are 4GB.Exept for this one particularity, i find this chromebook really great and easy to use. The picture quality is great, the keyboard and touchpad are comfy !

I purchased this HP laptop for my wife’s birthday. Needless to say, she was pleased with the compact size and the silver color. She doesn’t know much about laptop and their specs, but since I am an IT Specialist, she doesn’t need to.I am really pleased with this purchase.

I bought this for my 11 year old son as we are still doing ALL schooling online here in my country (St. Lucia). It is awesome for accessing google classroom, google meet, zoom et. Which are the platforms used here. But its not touchscreen so I don’t know why there’s a rating for that. Also it only uses google docs which my son isnt entirely familiar with yet, but i’ll teach him and he’ll be fine. I don’t like the fact that it doesn’t have an HDMI port and only has ONE USB port… so basically if you have a mouse plugged in (like i had to do for my son) you can’t pug in an external drive. Also if your printer isn’t wifi enabled, don’t hope to print from this computer. BUT………… with 3 kids, a car loan and a mortgage, it was the best value for money on short notice! My son hasn’t complained and neither shall it. I just hope it stands up to a year of online class. Also, based on some of the reviews I read, I ONLY use this for his school work. NO video games, NO movie websites etc. Just class, homework and research and we’re good!

My first Chromebook and I am quite pleased with the overall experience and what I can achieve with itLIKE1. It’s fast – considering the processor or it’s Geekbench 5 score:)2. The sound quality is decent (the B&O brand may cost more than the entire product)3. Keyboard and the typing experience are easy to get used to4. Connection Ports – WOW with 2x USB A, 2x USB C & MicroSD that would be like a Swiss Army Knife usable anytime anywhere.5. Battery charges quickly, lasts quite long & quiet since it does not have a fan.DISLIKE1. The screen – viewing angle shift and display colour left a lot to be desired2. Trackpad – Scrolling is fine but clicking is seriously too firm3. 32GB storage seriously? – Considering laptops with spinning hard drive back in Y2K have bigger storage (but I assume Chromebook user may choose to use external drive or cloud storage for proper work)3. It gets quite Warm (only at the bottom) even when running small taskWell considering I purchased the Chromebook and delivered it 3/4 around the earth + Tax for USD$201 is quite a marvellous feat (and no where close to that price can I find it here in my country). Also the product is supported by Google until June 2026 now that is quite generous for the product of this price.Be assured that the Chromebook will work with NTFS, FAT and all your normal peripherals by just plug and play (even my mouse with front & back button works just fine). Conclusion: This Chromebook would make a perfect spare laptop at home or for once in a while presentation on external display as it looks like it could take some beating when compared to the more expensive Aluminium laptops.

Did not come with office 365, a must have for me. What can I do Amazon to get this as promised?

Do not buy this computer. I’m on my 2nd one, and the quality is extremely poor. I owned Dell laptops over the past decade or so, and decided I would give another brand a try as my 6 year old Dell was showing signs of decay and I wasn’t sure it could run Win11. I order an HP, and it showed up very promptly. (which I credit Amazon, not HP, although with the current supply chain issues I was impressed with both companies) However, that is where the good experience ended. The computer booted up OK, and then proceeded with a series of updates. (as expected) The computer spent hours and hours and hours updating. After it appeared to be stabilized, I installed all my software. (Office, Quicken, Virus, etc.) This seemed to work OK, but eventually, the computer continued to upgrade, at one point re-building my BIOS for some reason. That was the beginning of the end. After re-building my BIOS, it went into an infinite loop, indicating that it was “clearing the old BIOS” and it would take awhile. Well, I came back an hour later and it was still in this loop. I came back after a day, still looping. Finally, I used my phone to look for a solution. I was able to find a way to have it (again) rebuild the BIOS by holding the Win-CNTRL-B key while restarting. Unfortunately, after rebuilding the BIOS again, it came back and started into the loop again. (round and round and round) I turned it off and came back a day or two later. Miraculously, when I came back after a day, it was at the Windows prompt and I logged in. I figured it was a fluke. I used the computer for a week or so, then it asked if I wanted to upgrade to Win11. I clicked OK and it began a very large download, and proceeded to upgrade to Win 11. This worked, but after using Win 11 for a few hours, it again kept installing updates, and eventually rebuilt the BIOS again. As you’re guessing, it went back into an infinite loop. This time, I gave up after a week of looping, clicked the “replace” button from Amazon, and order another of the same computer, which came in a day or two.The above sequence basically repeated itself again. However, this time, I was able to force the (2nd) new computer to rebuild the CMOS, which seemed to resolve the problem. However, now some of the keys are stuck in “caps on” mode. I.e. it keeps choosing the top character as if I have the SHIFT key on, but I don’t. (If this happens when I’m typing a password, I don’t know what I’ll do!)Bottom line, the quality is poor on this computer all the way around. The architecture can’t seem to handle Win 11. The keepboard sticks, or the software running the keepboard does. Also, I have installed hardly ANYTHING on this computer, and 50G out of the 60G that I bought is used! “System Files” need 50G of space????? If this is the case, you should NOT OFFER A 60G option, but force the lowest configuration to be 100G or more. Many fails all the way around.I’ve had the computer for 2 weeks or so, and I’m worried every day that there will be more problems. Had I to do it over again, I would stick with the Dell and/or try something else new, like a Lenovo.4/20/22 Update – ONCE AGAIN, the BIOS updated on my computer, then got stuck in an infinite loop and will not reboot. Once again I will spend hours trying to get it working, and be concerned about sensitive files on my HD. This computer is the worst I’ve ever owned, including the KAYPRO portable from 1990 that weight 30 lbs and had a 19.2 modem. I will never buy another HP product ever again.

So bought this for my son to watch Netflix, Hulu and prime. It was great. It sat on his desk for two years and it was awesome, he’d watch his movies on it when he had free time. One day he went to watch it and said it wouldn’t turn on. So I went to see what was wrong thinking it was a dead battery only to see it was plugged in. Told him to give it a minute, after 20-30 mins I tried to turn it on and nothing but black screen. Light on side says it’s charging but screen won’t do anything. For something that has been stationary and handled with care it should have lasted longer than two years. He only gets 2 hours max of screen time a day. Sucks. In the market for a new one if this can’t be fixed for a reasonable amount of money.

Laptop is nice and works fine. Only issue is, I bought the white color & was sent a graphite color. The box was labeled incorrectly. I guess Amazon doesn’t actually look at what’s in a box before sending. I bought it used in “like new” condition. Nothing wrong with the laptop itself except for the color.

I’m split on this device. On one hand it doesn’t have a great screen, it’s memory and storage limited, the processor isn’t very powerful, and it only has a single standard USB port. On the other hand it is compact, has decent battery life, an alright build quality for a cheap device, has an SD card slot, and does an passable job when it comes to writing, spreadsheets, surfing the web, watching videos, and even light gaming.Chrome OS, on the other hand, seems to struggle with most things. It lacks some of the basic functionality you expect of a modern OS and can be anti-intuitive to use. It has stability issues with apps, especially ones that compete with Google’s own (such as Firefox).Thankfully you can install a basic Linux build for things like Libre Office, but many programs installed that way also seem to have stability issues (like VLC Media Player). The built in media player works but has a terrible interface and limited control, and only the terrible mobile versions of other media players seem to work right. The device has speakers, but they aren’t very loud and seem crackly — thankfully a headphone jack is included. It has no touchscreen and the trackpad is possibly the worst I’ve ever used, to the point of being frustrating and/or not working the way I want it to — partly because of the OS, itself, and partly because it doesn’t have any buttons or anything available to assist its functionality. A mouse is necessary for comfortable use.The keyboard is alright, comfortable to type on.Honestly, though, if I had the choice to go back and purchase something else I probably would. I’m not sure Google’s operating system is for me — you can’t even use the desktop to place shortcuts or folders! I would just get a regular laptop and install Linux Mint on it. Doing so would result in an experience that is far more intuitive, stable, and with the benefit of having access to the functionality of a full fledged OS (and all the programs available for it).At the same time, this will do for most the things I bought it for, just less than expected in some respects.Buy if you want something super basic to write on, look stuff up on, and to keep records. Anything more than that and you should definitely go for something else.

Overall, this is a great computer. The computer works well for all online things that I need to do, and I am quickly able to access all Microsoft programs. The only thing that is not great is the typing. There are times when there is a delay from what I type on the keyboard showing up on the computer screen. I have to stop typing for the letters to catch up.

This is the exact same thing as a tablet, Only with less functionality, you still have to use the normal play store for any type of applications you want, but more then half of the apps aren’t compatible with the “laptop”. No storage space, only one USB port and it’s not compatible with ASIO and doesn’t tun any recording app probably. I guess it’s okay for children 10 years old or younger, but that’s about it.May I also add that the day after I could no longer return this item it stopped working all together

We love Chromebooks and ours got to the point where they were no longer supported or the software upgraded…so it was time to pick out some new ones. I did a lot of research and study on the different types and whether they were touch-screen or a tablet/laptop configuration etc, etc,Then I went to C-Net and checked out the reviews and finally decided on the HP Chromebook. It is durable for mine and my wife’s use and light enough to keep handy without having to constantly put it in a sleeve or carrying case.

I bought this laptop after my old one died on me. In the beginning, this was a great replacement laptop and since I had so much of my files in cloud storage, it was very easy to restore and download them to this new laptop. I was back up and running fairly quickly. However, this past week (Week of September 6, 2022) I’ve had issues where after shutting down the laptop, it wouldn’t come on after pressing the power button(power adapter was plugged in). Or the power light on the side of the laptop was blinking after putting it in sleep mode and then it won’t “wake back up” after tapping the mouse or quick pressing the power button. I end up having to do a hard shut-down by holding the power button until it turns off. Then after a few seconds press it again to turn it back on and then it’ll start up.Ultimately, 6 months in, and I’m already looking for a new laptop. I might just go and get a Chromebook and then get a new desktop computer. HP laptops and I are clearly having a run of bad luck.

Has all the features I wanted. Screen is perfect size and resolution for my writing. USB ports and audio jack provide all my needs. Light weight makes for taking it just about anywhere in a small bag. Performance is as expected. It will hiccup at first running chrome and then music. It’s not a powerhouse nor intended for multiple heavy apps. Price is spot on compared to other models. The OS is solid. Only down so far is the touchpad being a tad over sensitive but I use a small inexpensive wireless mouse. Very pleased with the laptop.

I have had this Chromebook for about 2 years now, some things worth noting:Pros:good quality for the price (no chipping, higher quality material, aesthetically pleasing)lightweightdoes not overheat or have a distracting fan noisei have had no problems with this computer for the 2 years I’ve had itif you need it just to browse the web and do your taxes this is the perfect laptop for you!Consit’s a Chromebook, i highly suggest you do your research and know what you are getting into; if you are a student who needs Microsoft word and excel, chrome books may not be the best option for you. Chromebooks are like phones, they have apps and although you can download Microsoft word it does not come with all of the regular features.it can sometimes run a bit slow, but nothing crazy.you cant download any games like blizzard or league of legends on it. (this may be obvious but worth noting regardless.)Overall ,good quality for the price.
